Curley Says Yes

Ask me anything   Submit   I'm a Brummie studying Creative Writing in Liverpool and I drink mostly water. This blog is intended to keep me in writing mode, but judging by my other fads (saxophone, unicycle, football manager...) it probably won't last very long. I doubt there will be any running themes.

To conclude: the stuff in this blog will be narcissistic and uninteresting to most.

Hello, New Year!  A new decade; the year ten past eight.  I’m not sure if this year could ever match the last one, but then it’s only a flipping established time period and it just so happened that between the dates of January 1st and December 31st 2009, I generally had a pretty bloody good time.  That my good times were within the space of an actual year, I’d say is coincidence.  The novelty of university is wearing off (due to the discovery that red brick universities have suddenly recognised that creative writing isn’t a made up course and does involve a little bit more than fannying around with a pen and writing the odd limerick) and I’m hoping that this doesn’t dampen my experiences of 2010.

Admittedly, I’m wishing away the next four months.  Know when you just wanna be somewhere this instant?  Physically, mentally and erm…physically!  Uni will be done with for another year by that time and my summer will be here, as will Dot To Dot, closely followed by Secret Garden Party!  YUS!  I was still at last year’s festivals when I was complaining about them ending and declaring that I cannot possibly ever wait until nexts times.  Four and six months to go…

My fitness regime is going well (thus far) and I now drink up to two cups of green tea a day.  I shock even myself.  My insides feel zingy for my efforts and I’m able to flex my back muscles again. :)  I’m exactly like Popeye.  Chin included.  (And I’m a little bit spotty actually!  Stupid tea and vegetables.  I’m going back to my Christmas diet!)

AND!  Massive news here!  I FINALLY got my hair cut!  Bar me putting my own fringe in and attempting the odd trim, it’s the first cut since May.  MAY! MAYMAYMAY!  May.  I am now sporting a shoulder length bob because - to be honest - it looked shit before and my overambitious plan of having Kate Moss/Carrie Bradshaw/Bats for Lashes hair has gone out of the proverbial window.  So I’m gonna try again. :D  Next week, back to my natural colour!  My natural platinum/white/silver blonde hair can no longer handle being stripped of it’s pigments and dignity so I’m going back to my auburnish roots.  For the past two years or so I’ve considered red, brown, dark blonde and the like and always whined, Oh, but my blonde!  My precious, precious blonde! and then remembering that last time I went dark and wanted to come back to the lighter side, not even the hair industry could come up with a new word for ‘orange’.  Neither could the scabs on my head.

In short, I’m bored of myself and canny wait till summer.  And have too much time on my hands.  I’ve decided to start writing letters to fill a few gaps.  I’m so retro sometimes!
